Did you ever expect that Arab investments outside the Arab region would be about $1,800 billion? It is a fact, indeed, that was revealed by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) data, in the words of Representative Dr. Habib Al-Nubi, Member of the European Parliament and Special Adviser to the Governor of the Italian Republic of San Marino.

Data from the International Fund refuted the investments of each Arab country separately, on top of which were the investments of Egypt and Egyptians abroad, which recently amounted to $140 billion.

Arab investments 1800 billion dollars

Arab investments outside the Arab region amount to about $1,800 billion, while intra-Arab investments amount to about $80 billion (less than 5%). Egypt ranks second in the Arab world in attracting investment.

Where are the investments of Egyptians and Arabs heading?

Most of the investments of Egyptians and Arabs go to the services, housing, tourism, transportation and banking sectors by 80%, while the industry gets only 9% of the volume of investments, followed by the agricultural sector by 2%.

Investor opportunities in Egypt

While the most important opportunities available and required by investors in Egypt are represented in several industries referred to by Al-Habib Al-Nubi, namely:

1- Spinning and weaving

2- Vehicles and means of transportation

3- Food industries

4- Promoting agriculture and foodstuffs

5- Housing

6- Tourism and banking

7- Investments in the health sector and hospitals

8- Small investments in the sugar industry

9- There were agricultural projects that declined

It must be noted that the Suez Canal Free Zone has facilitated many obstacles and has become one of the elements that attract foreign investments.

There is also an agreement to encourage and protect Arab investments, which is able to add solutions to investment obstacles, in addition to providing a mechanism for settling investment disputes, represented by a dispute settlement court affiliated to the League of Arab States, but it has not been resorted to yet.
