The Media Center of the Council of Ministers revealed the truth about the rumors about the government deducting part of the remittances of Egyptians abroad.

The media center communicated with the Ministry of State for Immigration and Egyptians Abroad Affairs, which denied these reports.

The ministry affirmed that the government's intention to deduct part of the remittances of Egyptians abroad is untrue, and that there is no intention or study to deduct part of the salaries of Egyptians abroad or their personal accounts.

The ministry indicated the state's interest in taking care of all the affairs of Egyptians abroad, and meeting their needs, while motivating them to direct their investments to Egypt, and to take advantage of the investment opportunities offered, without the government interfering with their salaries or personal accounts.

 The Ministry appealed to citizens not to be led by such false news, while drawing information from its reliable sources.

Counselor Bahaa Abu Shaqa, the representative of the Senate, commented on the statements attributed to him regarding his proposal to allocate part of the money of Egyptians abroad for the benefit of the state.

Abu Shoqa denied, the statements attributed to the collection of a percentage of the money of Egyptians abroad, indicating that today’s session discussed providing protection and guarantees for workers abroad.

 He added that the Egyptians abroad constitute a national wealth, because their number ranges between 12 to 14 million citizens, and must be preserved.

He indicated that he demanded the existence of a governing legal umbrella to protect Egyptians abroad, from the start of travel procedures until their arrival in the town to which they are moving.

He called for a law to protect workers abroad, and everything related to them in terms of financial and moral rights and a decent and safe life, in the face of the employers in which they work abroad.

He pointed out that the collection of any money from Egyptians abroad is not permissible except by law, indicating that the matter is unconstitutional, because the collection of any sums or fees under any name is considered a tax, which causes a kind of double taxation, which is illegal.
