Egypt is conducting discussions with Oman to establish a joint fund
The Egyptian Minister of Transport, Kamel Al-Wazir, said that Egypt’s ports are neither for sale nor for acquisition, but we welcome investment in management and operation.
The minister added, on the sidelines of the regular general assemblies meetings of 4 companies affiliated with the Holding Company for Maritime and Land Transport, that the Egyptian government, represented by the Ministry of Transport, is working to implement all procedures and mechanisms that contribute to the development of all Egyptian ports in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to make Egypt a global center for trade and logistics.
The Minister of Transport stressed the importance of attracting investors to cooperate in the field of management and operation, as well as attracting more new shipping lines and attracting more transit trade.
He explained that these areas are not only areas for warehouses, but will include factories for complementary industries to carry out packaging and small industries, as an added value to these logistics areas.

The Minister stressed the need to quickly establish logistics zones west of Port Said Port (4 logistics zones), which are based on the port and railways, in order to contribute to increasing trade and circulation in the port.
Kamel Al-Wazir announced the implementation of a comprehensive plan to establish dry ports and logistics areas, numbering 25 dry ports and logistics areas throughout the Arab Republic of Egypt, within the framework of implementing 7 logistical corridors to support the Egyptian trade movement.
This came during his presidency of the ordinary general assemblies of 4 companies affiliated with the Holding Company for Maritime and Land Transport.
He pointed out that the political leadership attaches great importance to the establishment of dry ports and logistical zones, numbering 25 dry ports and logistics zones throughout the Republic, which are part of Egypt’s implementation of 7 logistical corridors to support the Egyptian trade movement and maximize their benefit in increasing national income and making Egypt a global center for trade and logistics.
Egyptian-Omani fund
from her side, Egyptian Minister of Planning Hala Al-Saeed said on Friday that her country is currently holding discussions to establish an Egyptian-Omani fund into which money will be pumped into specific fields such as agricultural industries, food manufacturing, and the field of medicines.
She pointed out that her country "benefited from the experience of the Omani Fund when establishing the Egyptian Sovereign Fund."
For his part, the Omani minister said that his visit to Egypt included a meeting with a number of ministers and heads of major institutions, and it was agreed to form a technical team to study integration in the industrial sector between the relevant ministries to discuss the opportunities in the two countries, according to the Arab World News Agency.
