8 Urgent Egyptian Preparations For the Climate Summit
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi paid extraordinary attention to the COP27 World Climate Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh this November.
Egypt seeks to work during this summit on adopting a comprehensive vision that includes the needs of developing countries, while taking into account the capabilities of developed countries, with the aim of reaching practical solutions and internationally applicable commitments with regard to facing climate challenges, thus helping to achieve the UN goals for sustainable development.
Egypt's preparations for the climate summit :
1- Egypt has held more than one meeting with African countries; Because it appears in the conference on behalf of the entire continent of Africa, and this was with the aim of unifying the visions of the African countries, and unifying the demands as well. Because African countries speak different languages, and this could result in losing the voice of those countries.
2- Egypt has communicated and coordinated with the countries that hosted the previous editions of the Climate Summit, the last of which was the United Kingdom.
3- Egypt has developed a national strategy for climate change 2050, which will be officially announced during the activities of the climate conference.
4- Egypt focused on other sectoral strategies such as: the energy sector and water resources.
5- It conducted major projects, such as developing the road network and the energy sector, where the use of renewable energy such as "solar - wind - and hydroelectric" is now being expanded.
6- There is a plan to expand the areas of these renewable energies to preserve the environment.
7- In the field of agriculture, Egypt has turned to sustainable modern agriculture.
8- In the field of transportation, public transportation has been converted to electricity and gas, and the transportation means that serve the conference are all electricity.
Egypt has not forgotten the awareness-raising role it plays in the COP27 Conference, as it relies on civil society and NGOs, through the media sector, as awareness is spread to different groups of the people to highlight the importance of this event and its impact on the countries of the world.
