Population and Development Conference

The World Conference on Population, Health and Development, held in the New Administrative Capital, continues its activities for the second day in a row, with the participation of more than eight thousand participants from Egypt and many countries of the world.

Yesterday, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi witnessed the opening session of the conference - whose activities will be held from September 5 to 8, during which the National Population and Development Strategy 2023/2030 was launched, along with the launch of a road map to deal with the population issue from the perspective of maximizing population characteristics and improving the quality of life.

The conference includes 65 dialogue sessions attended by 270 Egyptian and foreign speakers. The Egyptian Fellowship Scientific Program also participates with 14 workshops and 33 sessions attended by 125 people in 31 specializations.

Establishing educational centers

It is scheduled to sign an agreement today to establish educational centers and

provide them with the latest equipment to train doctors to use the latest family planning methods in accordance with international standards, in the presence of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, and the German Ambassador to Egypt, Frank Hartmann.

Dr. Ahmed Taha, Chairman of the Health Accreditation and Control Authority, is scheduled to chair a discussion session today entitled: “The Role of the Hospitals and Educational Institutes Authority in Overcoming Children’s Disabilities and Rehabilitating Patients.”

A number of topics

Today, the conference will also discuss a number of topics over the course of about 11 sessions, including women’s empowerment and gender equality in order to improve population health, the strategic framework for health in Egypt, demographic division, economic impacts and opportunities, building sustainable health care systems capable of withstanding climate change, and others. Challenges and Opportunities

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, revealed some of the topics that will be discussed during the World Conference on Population, Health and Development, as the sessions include discussing the role of the secretariat of specialized medical centers in health care in a session entitled “Challenges and Opportunities,” including:

-Challenges and achievements in the field of multiple sclerosis in Egypt.

Reviewing the experience of the Secretariat of Specialized Medical Centers in registering GAHAR.

-Efforts made to improve medical services for oncology patients.

-Discuss the advantages of bone marrow transplants as a cornerstone for improving survival.

-Discussing the objectives of the hub and satellite project to improve access to medical services.

Population increase

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, confirmed that the World Conference on Health, Population and Development 2023 is an important event to discuss the population issue, which is of utmost importance for the present and future of life on planet Earth in front of the countries and peoples of the world.

This came during the Minister of Health’s speech at the opening ceremony of the World Conference on Health, Population and Development 2023, under the title “Healthy Population for Sustainable Development,” today, Tuesday, under the patronage and honor of the President of the Republic, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

The minister pointed out that the problem of population increase facing the Egyptian state is the greatest challenge facing national action in the present and future, as it hinders the wheel of economic growth and devours all development returns, which affects the level of services provided to citizens and their standard of living, which requires us to work to achieve balance. Between economic growth and population growth, ensuring the achievement of well-being for all.
