The department explained that it plans to establish the first floating mosque in the world in Dubai, under the Tolerance Bridge on the water canal, pointing out that the project will be completed next year, and it will serve as a unique religious architectural icon, and will attract tourists from home and abroad regardless of their religion. It is expected that the cost of this project will reach about 55 million dirhams.
This came during a conference held by the department at its headquarters yesterday, chaired by Ahmed Khalfan Al Mansouri, Advisor for Cultural Communication, and Dr. Abdullah Abdul Jabbar, Senior Research Consultant, in the presence of Dr. Hamad bin Sheikh Ahmed Al Shaibani, Director General of the Department, Mohammed Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, Executive Director of the Mosque Affairs Sector, and Dr. Omar Mohammed Al Khatib. Religious tourism
Ahmed Al Mansouri stressed that the religious tourism project in the emirate contributes to strengthening the emirate’s position as an attractive point for Muslim and non-Muslim visitors and tourists, and provides an opportunity to learn about Islamic culture, customs and Emirati values, and enhances Dubai’s tourism and leadership position and supports the Dubai 2025 strategy to make it the most visited place in the world by 2025.
