The electronics industry is witnessing rapid growth in Egypt in light of the government's interest in developing this industry and placing it among its priorities. 

Egypt is implementing the electronics industry development strategy to strengthen its position in this industry by working on five pillars, namely:

•building abilities

• Establishing partnerships

• Strengthening ingredients

• Policy development

• Establishing areas and centers for the development of this industry.

Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, confirmed that capacity building is the cornerstone of the electronics industry development strategy.

He explained that Egypt has a broad base of young talent, with 250,000 graduates annually in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics 50,000 of them are engineering graduates.

He said that the efforts made by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to invest in building the digital capabilities of youth, which resulted in the training of about 600,000 young people over the past three years.

He pointed out that the training programs include various disciplines of communications and information technology, with a focus on electronics design, The Ministry aims to double the number of specialists in this industry and enhance their competitiveness.

Encouraging domestic and foreign investment

He explained the state's interest in developing policies related to encouraging domestic and foreign investment in the electronics industry in Egypt, including the establishment of economic zones, industrial technological zones, and the expansion of specialized laboratories to enhance the growth of companies operating in the electronics industry.

He pointed out that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has established the largest center for the electronics industry in Egypt, in Knowledge City in the New Administrative Capital, which hosts 24 companies specialized in the field of electronics design.

$4 billion investment

 He revealed the development of the communications infrastructure with investments of $4 billion, which resulted in raising the efficiency of the Internet, so that Egypt topped the ranking of the African continent in terms of average fixed Internet speed.

He explained that more than 55 local and international companies specializing in the design of electronics and embedded systems work in Egypt. It also has many competitive advantages that qualify it to expand in this promising industry and provide services to various markets.

Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, inaugurated the first summit of the Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA) in Cairo, with the participation of officials and representatives of more than 60 local and international companies specialized in the design of electronics and embedded systems in the semiconductor industry, and a number of experts and academics specialized in this field Industry.

It is noteworthy that the Global Semiconductor Alliance had established a regional business unit in Egypt under the name GSA-Egypt, in cooperation with the Information Technology Industry Development Authority - ITIDA and the Etisal Association, as part of the alliance's expansion plans to include major players and leaders in the semiconductor industry, software, solutions and systems and services.
