Tourism is one of the fastest growing industries in the world and a major source of foreign exchange and employment for many countries. It is considered one of the most prominent economic and social phenomena.

 According to the classification of the World Tourism Organization, there are 10 different types of tourism which are:

 Medical Tourism:

 Traveling for the purpose of treatment and recreation in health resorts in various parts of the world, as in India, for example, or in some specialized hospitals in Europe and America.

 In related context, Egypt has 16 inland and coastal sites, in which natural remedies are available for many diseases, especially rheumatic diseases, vitiligo and psoriasis.

Eco-tourism: 

Traveling with the aim of visiting nature reserves such as the nature reserves in Africa, which is a significant tourism boom in recent years, with these reserves at risk of extinction.

Marine tourism: 

It is widely spread in the Arab world, in Agadir, Sharm El-Sheikh, Lattakia, Aqaba and Alexandria, and depends on touring the seas and oceans and the use of luxury yachts and ships as means of accommodation during travel.

Conference tourism: 

They are the tourism activities associated with attending international conferences and are often hosted by different capitals around the world and are periodic and linked to the times of these events and conferences.

Shopping tourism:

 It is traveling for the sake of shopping from countries that are characterized by an abundance of purchasing complexes and quality prices, including Dubai, London, Paris, Milan, Frankfurt, Berlin, and the most famous shopping sites in the world. 

Sports tourism:

It is divided into two parts: the first section is travel to attend certain famous sporting events such as football matches, and the second section is travel to practice a specific sport in a specific country. 

Recreational tourism:

It is traveling to world-famous tourist places, which is the most famous and widespread type of tourism in the world. 

Religious Tourism:

Traveling with the aim of visiting sacred places for religions, such as Mecca, Medina, and Jerusalem for Muslims, Bethlehem, the Vatican, and various monasteries for Christians, including St. Catherine’s Monastery in South Sinai in Egypt, as well as visiting Ashrams or religious retreats in the mountains for Hindus and Buddhists.

Beach tourism:

This tourism is widespread in countries that overlook the sea and contain attractive coastal areas, and we find this type of beach tourism in many countries of the world, such as the countries of the Mediterranean basin, the countries of the Caribbean Sea and the south of the Arabian Gulf such as Oman and the Red Sea countries, in addition to visitors to the Dead Sea in Palestine, Jordan and some Popular islands like the Maldives.

Another type is also associated with it: diving tourism, as a tourist activity directly related to beach tourism in coastal areas.

Meditation Tourism:

It is considered one of the finest types of international tourism, and it is a new tourism product at the global level. Its first marketing at the Arab level began in Jordan, where its first activities were launched on February 14, 2014 at the Dead Sea. This type of tourism is mostly suitable for the elderly.
