At the beginning of this January, Banque Misr and the National Bank offered a savings certificate to deal with inflation and dollarization, for a period of one year, with an annual return of 25%, which is spent at the end of the period, or a return of 22.5%, which is paid monthly.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banque Misr, Mohamed El-Atreby, announced that the new “Talaat Harb” certificate, with an annual return of 25%, will be suspended by the end of January.
Al-Etribi stated two weeks ago that the new certificate with an annual return of 25% has achieved its desired goal, and that work on it will be suspended by the end of January.
National Bank
The National Bank of Egypt announced that the proceeds of 25% and 22.5% certificates amounted to 260 billion pounds, and they are being stopped at the end of the month.
And the bank stated in a statement today, the balance of annual platinum certificates with a return of 25% and 22.5% is about 260 billion pounds, about 60% of which was implemented through alternative channels such as (Al-Ahly Net, Al-Ahly Mobile, and the call center) and the rest from Through the bank's branches spread all over the country.
62 thousand customers
The bank confirmed that the date to stop issuing the aforementioned annual certificate is at the end of this January.
The certificate with a return of 25%, since its launch on January 4, has attracted about 62,000 new clients to the family of the National Bank of Egypt.
The National Bank of Egypt issued the 25 certificates in conjunction with Banque Misr on the fourth of this month, in order to control inflation rates in the country.
