Importance of the visit of the Russian Foreign Minister to Baghdad
Lavrov will head a delegation that includes representatives of oil and gas companies, and is scheduled to meet his Iraqi counterpart, Fuad Hussein, on Monday.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in Baghdad to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation in the field of energy.
Russia enhances energy fields with Iraq
Lavrov will head a delegation that includes representatives of oil and gas companies, and is scheduled to meet his Iraqi counterpart, Fuad Hussein, on Monday.
The visit will focus on "strategic relations with Russia and encouraging investment opportunities, especially in the energy sectors."
A member of the Parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee, Amer Al-Faez, confirmed that “Russia is a developed country and has strong and supportive capabilities for Iraq and the region in general, so we cooperated with the Russian delegation in many areas of industry, agriculture and the economy.”
He explained that "at the same time, Russia is also keen to have a foothold in this region, in particular, and the Middle East in general."
Stressing that "the visit of the Russian delegation to Iraq will solve many crises and open many advanced prospects in the fields of oil, gas and electricity."
crises in Iraq
It must be noted that the devaluation of the Iraqi dinar against the US dollar has become a serious crisis that is almost grinding citizens, especially from the middle and poor classes, due to high inflation rates and high prices.
The Iraqi currency has reached the point of collapse, which exacerbates the difficulty of living and economic conditions, in light of the high unemployment rates and the high prices of simple basic commodities and services.
The conflict between Washington and Tehran
It is clear that the intensified conflict between Washington and Tehran is now reflected in Iraq economically and stiflingly, as the steps of the US Federal Bank led to curbing the flow of money in dollars to Iran from Iraq. Unfortunately, the Iraqi government and people are the ones who pay the price for this matter.
