EgyptAir announced the signing of a new deal to purchase 10 Airbus A350-900 aircraft. This deal comes within the framework of the company’s constant endeavor to meet the growing demand for air transport and provide passengers with the best flying experience on its airline network extending throughout the world.

According to a statement: The deal was signed during the 2023 Dubai Airshow, in the presence of Engineer Yahya Zakaria, President of the Holding Company for EgyptAir, and Christian Scherer, CEO of Commercial Aircraft Sector Operations at Airbus.

 The A350-900 aircraft, when added to the company’s fleet, contribute to rationalizing fuel consumption by 25%, thus reducing carbon emissions resulting from flights. Passengers on board these aircraft also enjoy the best travel experiences thanks to the distinctive “AirSpace” cabin from Airbus, which provides spacious luggage spaces. And other amenities.

The A350 aircraft is considered the best in the field of long-range flights, specifically within the category of aircraft that accommodates 300-410 seats, and its design ensures reducing operating costs and carbon dioxide emissions and reducing fuel consumption by 25%.

Thanks to its reliance on the latest technologies, aerodynamic innovations, lightweight materials and advanced engines, in addition to reducing noise by 50% compared to previous generation aircraft of competing companies, it is noteworthy that orders for the A350 aircraft have exceeded a thousand purchase orders from leading airlines around the world.

In a related context, Saudi Airlines, the country's main airline, is considering a major expansion of its fleet by adding about 150 aircraft. It is currently in talks with Airbus over its best-selling A320 model, Bloomberg News reported.

Bloomberg, citing the same sources who requested anonymity, said that it is unlikely that the ongoing talks between Saudi Arabia and Airbus will be completed within this week during the currently held Dubai Air Show, and that they may not be crowned with success.

Such a deal would be the largest in the history of the Kingdom.

The state-owned airline is currently being rehabilitated to focus on religious Hajj, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman announced. To restructure the aviation market in the Kingdom.

The new Saudi company, Riyadh Airlines, will focus on tourism, as Bin Salman aims to transform the Kingdom into a tourist destination.

The sources, who requested anonymity due to the confidentiality of the discussions, added that Riyadh Airlines, which was launched by the Saudi Public Investment Fund, is considering submitting confirmed orders to purchase 50 aircraft, along with a similar number of options, with the start of the Dubai Airshow, which began today. 

The sources explained that final discussions are underway, and the number may change slightly.

Riyadh Air is looking to build its network and compete with existing regional companies, including Emirates Airlines and Qatar Airways, as part of the initiative of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to make the Saudi economy less dependent on oil.
