The European Investment Bank decided to establish the “Global Gateway” fund, which is a fund of funds that aims to provide equity and debt financing for high-impact infrastructure, clean energy and human development projects around the world.

In a move aimed at supporting global crises, the European Investment Bank announced the provision of a total of 24 billion euros for media crises.

The Bank supports new business, transport, health, education, clean energy and investment in climate action across Europe and around the world.

European investment loans

The European Investment Bank indicated that the loans (24 billion euros) reflect the bank's commitment to responding to the very difficult economic and geopolitical conditions that the world witnessed this year.

 

European Investment Fund

The European Investment Bank decided to establish the “Global Gateway” fund, which is a fund of funds that aims to provide equity and debt financing for high-impact infrastructure, clean energy and human development projects around the world, while the fund is an integral part of the European Union Bank’s contribution to the Global Gateway initiative for the European Union.

 

The Bank launched new initiatives worth €7.9 billion to strengthen private sector financing initiatives with local banks and lending partners in Europe, commercial lending programs aimed at improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions, accelerating sustainable investment through agribusiness, and encouraging greater adoption of low-carbon vehicles for commercial use,  and lending financing to small businesses.

Innovation financing

The bank stated that its programs aim to finance direct innovation for companies in the field of automobile companies, aerospace, construction equipment and robotics, and to promote steel production and high-tech engineering technologies, in addition to financing the sustainable transport sector at a value of 6.9 billion euros, including the modernization of railways and the improvement of urban transport in a number of cities,european cities, modernizing highways, and building new container terminals.

Support for energy financing

The bank allocated part of the financing to the clean energy sector, climate action, water and food security, at a value of 4.6 billion euros, such as offshore wind farm projects, improving interconnection, enhancing electricity distribution, biofuel production, and modernizing electricity transmission networks in Europe, as well as a simplified financing initiative to support wind and power generation, large-scale solar power in Asia, support for onshore wind farms in South America, investment in renewable energy projects across Africa, and tackling grain shortages and strengthening the resilience of food supplies in North Africa.

Vaccinations against diseases

The European Investment Bank has approved 4.1 billion euros for hospitals, vaccination against human papillomavirus and malaria, eradication of polio, modernization of healthcare facilities, and construction of long-term care facilities for the elderly in Europe.

The Bank has channeled €1.3 billion into education and urban development, financing school renovation, modernizing higher education research, and streamlining financing for higher education in Europe.
